EDINBURGH: Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat first in second T20I against Scotland on Wednesday.
Pakistan opened with longer partnership between Fakhar Zaman
and Ahmed Shahzad. Both players established partnership of 60 runs and Pakistan lost their first
wicket in the 8th over. Fakhar Zaman
and Ahmed Shehzad could not build stay on the crease as Sarfaraz Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman
scored 14 and 33 runs respectively. The middle-order in-form batsman Shoaib Malik started aggressively against Scottish bowlers and
scored 49 runs in just 22 balls hitting one boundary and 5 sixes. Malik’s unbeaten innings helped Pakistan set target of 167 runs at the loss of 6
wickets against hosts.
The Scotlan
d openers could not hold ground for long and the team kept losing
wickets in frequent intervals. Scotland could
score only 34
after the loss of its 4th
wicket in 8th over. MacLeod remained the top-scorer with 25 runs on the Scottish side. The whole Scottish team could
score 82 runs only in 14.4 overs and lost to Pakistan by 84 runs.
Faheem Ashraf sent 3 Scottish batsmen back to the pavilion , while Usman Khan bagged 2
wickets. Nawaz and Shadab Khan grabbed 1
wicket each.
Usman Khan was named the Player of the Match. Pakistan won the 2-match T20I series against the hosts by 2-0.
